For those of you who are waiting for 7 years at this game or rather 13 years for those who are waiting for a proper sequel to Diablo 2, Path of Exile is finally out! Its a free 2 play game with "ethical microtransaction" as stated by the developers, meaning its mainly vanity items "for now", but I believe in Grinding Gear Games and I dont think they will screw/mess/fuck up their 2 million + subscribers.
I would like to make a review but my precious time is of the essence and Im sure you'll find better review of the game out there, therefore ill just dip into what I have experienced so far. Im almost 10 hrs with my Ranger (or whatever she will be according to the skill "landscape"), I picked the Ranger cuz of her awesome opening and narration of her backstory (mind you it's voiced). Of course all ranged classes in any game is fun and the Ranger here is not different, being an experienced Hunter/Archer/Ranger with other games before, I have no problems so far playing the default difficulty.
For me Path of Exile captures the essence of the Diablo universe, its dark and gritty; You are an Exile casted away in this horror filled continent of Wraeclast. The music is ok, its a bit fantasy, a bit horror-esque . The graphics is a little less than Diablo 3 but the classes looks like they are a prisoner/exile which doesn't make them stand out but of course it fits the main theme of the game. What really makes Path of Exile stand out is the "skill landscape"; You may have started as a Ranger but once you amass more points into the skill landscape you can actually improve your claw, sword, dagger etc. usage; The skill you use can actually be modified like you can make your arrows do a spread shot or a circular shots or do a piercing shot ; Im pretty sure other classes' skill can be modified too
"THE MOTHER OF SKILL MAPS"
Anyways I hope you guys try this game out, the "Skill Landscape" alone makes it intriguing enough to play this game. Add me on steam: psn_blitz_kaiser_ if you guys wanna party up
